Adam Huckstep Memorial Fundraisers

The founder of Military Moms of Texas, Tracy LaPorte, recently received news that her 23-year-old US Army Soldier son, Adam Huckstep-LaPorte, was killed instantly while riding his motorcycle just outside his military base in Georgia, when a woman failed to yield the right of way and pulled out in front of him! He was days away from deploying again to fight for our freedoms!
A fund has been set up in his name. The family is facing major costs for attorney fees in order to finalize wishes that Adam had stated prior to his death, execute his affairs and have the driver who killed him (who had prior offenses) charged properly for the accident. Unfortunately, these costs are not going to be covered by any death benefits or insurance settlements. They need help!

Secondly, the memorial fund is also to carryout the “2Step Amendment” for service member assistance by mandating advanced motorcycle training on bases, advanced driver awareness of motorcycles nationwide and mandating that Wills are properly executed for service members.
In honor of Adam “2Step”, as known by family and friends, help us move along the “2Step Amendment” to prevent similar situations happening to other service members and families!
We have two VERY exciting fundraisers coming up, as I mentioned above! PLEASE consider coming out and joining us for one or both of these events!

All funds raised go to the support the tasks mentioned above. Military Moms of Texas is not the beneficiary.

Adam Cody Huckstep – Obituary and Memorial Fund

Sergeant Adam “2Step” Huckstep-La Porte, 23, died tragically the evening of February 1, 2012 when a car made a left turn in front of his oncoming motorcycle in Long County, Georgia.

Huckstep-La Porte, an infantryman in the US Army, was assigned to the 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Stewart, Georgia. His most recent deployment was in October 2009 to Iraq. He was preparing to leave for Afghanistan in the coming months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom as an infantryman/gunner.

Adam grew up in the Round Rock School District and attended McNeil High School.  He was dedicated to his family, friends and serving his country.  Adam’s patriotism was evident when he joined the Army in 2008.   This patriotism and pride inspired his mother, Tracy La Porte, to found Military Moms of Texas, an organization committed to supporting American troops serving at home and abroad.

Adam was an enthusiastic member of the Wingmen Motorcycle Club of Long County, GA, where he was known as “2Step.”  His name 2Step came about when he was young   from his mom encouraging him the two step dance.  Later on, his nickname was enforced by his Wingmen brothers “two hits from Adam and you’re out”, just like the two-headed Vietnam snake. He made club history by being the youngest member ever invited to join. The Wingmen Motorcycle Club is a fraternal brotherhood made up primarily of active duty and prior service members who all share a commitment to loyalty, integrity, and honor.

It should be noted that Sgt Huckstep-La Porte was awarded the Army Good Conduct Medal, two Army Achievement Medals, the Army Commendation Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Iraqi Campaign Medal, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Army Service Ribbon, the Army Overseas Service Ribbon and The Non-Commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon.   He was recently in the process at Ft. Stewart to be selected as Staff Sergeant.

Adam was preceded in death by his great-grandfather Douglas Bush, a WWII Veteran, one of the first to arrive at Normandy.  Adam leaves behind his mother Tracy Anne La Porte and his dad Lorne La Porte of Round Rock, Texas. Adam was a loving brother to both of his sisters, Colleen Faith Huckstep-La Porte and Savannah Grace Rhiannon La Porte, and to his little brother Zachary Cash Norman La Porte, the youngest of the siblings. Adam is also survived by his father Michael Huckstep and wife Renee Huckstep of Arlington, and his grandparents Norman, a Vietnam Veteran, and Mary Anne La Porte and John and Ginny Gallo.

Adam “2Step” lived his life by the lyrics of his favorite song Country Boy.

“The biggest things in life are your friends and family…

Now two flags fly above my land that really sum up how I feel
One is the colors that fly high and proud
The red, the white and blue
The other ones got a rattlesnake with a simple statement made
“Don’t tread on me” is what it says and I’ll take that to my grave
Because, this is me.
I’m proud to be American and strong in my beliefs”

Funeral services were held at Blessing Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas. Adam was buried with full military honors at the Dallas/Ft.Worth National Cemetery on February 10, 2012.

Please join the family for the local memorial service being held on Saturday, February 18th, from 4:00 to 5:00 pm at St. Phillips Church located at 16321 Great Oaks Drive in Round Rock, Texas.

In lieu of flowers or gifts, please consider making a donation to the Adam Huckstep Memorial Account at any Wells Fargo Bank location.  Donations to the memorial account will be used to finalize his estate, carry out his last wishes and to establish the “2Step Amendment” focusing on additional public awareness of sharing the road with motorcycles and establishing protocol of frequent military paperwork updates and mandating wills.

“2 Step,” my son, my soldier, our hero never forgotten.

In loving memory of Adam “2Step” Huckstep
